What is estate administration?

Estate administration handles all the finances, assets and debts of somebody who has died. This can be difficult experience for a family following a death. You’ve got enough on your hands without the stress of the extra work.

We can help you make sense of it all. Tees can take on the practical responsibilities, because we understand estate administration inside out. We've got the expertise to cover every angle, and sort every detail as quickly and tidily as possible. We're here to take some of the pressure off, and leave you free to deal with what's important.

How we can help you

We can help you through every step of administering an estate. From start to finish - and everything in-between. You can ask us to do as much, or as little, as you need.

Our expert probate solicitors will listen carefully to what you need, and take the time to really understand you. We'll explain your options in clear, plain English. Then we'll give you the best professional guidance on how to move forward.

What to do if there's no Will

For example, if there’s no will (otherwise known as intestacy) we’ll find out who’s entitled to manage the estate and who might benefit from it. Sometimes this involves complex trust rules that govern who gets what.

What to do if you need a Grant of Probate

Alternatively, you might need a grant of probate. This is the name of the process where there is a will that confirms the executors' authority to deal with the estate.

But getting a grant of probate can be time consuming and stressful. You have to attend court and pay fees for a personal application. Instead, we can prepare all the papers and apply to the court on your behalf.

You can trust in Tees

Every case is different. No matter what your individual circumstances might be, we can find a way to help.

For example, for the elderly and disabled we offer home visits if it's hard for you to get to our office. You can also ask our team for advice on all sorts of issues, such as:

  • Getting a grant
  • Inheritance tax, claiming reliefs and so on
  • General administration of an estate, including accounts
  • Post-death variations
