The Royston office of Tees have agreed to sponsor Royston Rugby Club’s girls’ and male youth teams for the next three years.
The agreement, which runs to the end of the 2020/2021 season, provides a package of benefits to the club including enabling it to capitalise on the success of the Ladies’ team, by establishing a strong Girls’ section to develop female players into the Ladies team and give rugby playing experiences to girls from the local area. The club also wants to retain players in its Male Youth rugby section, with the same aim of delivering players to Senior rugby at the club and beyond.
The club will use the funds to provide playing shirts for its Girls and u16 sections and to provide recruitment sessions for new players in the Girls section.
The sponsorship further demonstrates Tees’ commitment to supporting sport in the local community. At the launch event at Royston Rugby Club the firm handed out boot bags to the youths and the under-12 ‘minis’ also received a Tees Frisbee. In addition, the solicitors from Tees ran a free clinic for those attending on the day.
Talking about the deal, Tees’ Managing Director, Ashton Hunt, said: “It’s very important to Tees that we support the local community and sport – especially youth sport – which plays an important part in every community. Royston Rugby Club are doing a great job promoting sport at all ages and we’re delighted to be supporting them.”
Royston Rugby Club’s Girls’ Head Coach said: “These are exciting times at Royston Rugby Club for Ladies and Girls this year. We are very grateful for the support from Tees which will help us develop our female teams. If girls of any age would like to come and be part of growing the female side of Rugby in Royston they are more than welcome to come and join us on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm."
