How can I help you?
I have worked in the field of clinical negligence for 18 years. Thus, my experience includes a wide range of clinical negligence claims. I specialise in:
Wrongful birth cases
I have developed a thorough knowledge of this complex area of the law. I will fully explore the antenatal care with you and the experts to identify what advice should have been given during pregnancy. Where the care has been defective, I will aim to enter judgment quickly with a view to obtaining interim payments to fund any care needs. I have recently settled a wrongful birth case for just under £7m for the parents of a child with Down’s syndrome. You can read about two other cases here:
- Life changing settlement for wrongful birth case after negligence during antenatal screening
- Tees settles wrongful birth claim
- plus also a life changing settlement for a boy born with cerebral palsy due to midwife negligence.
Fatal accidents and nervous shock
I have won a significant number of fatal cases and was instructed in the leading Court of Appeal case on nervous shock. I have developed a specialist knowledge of case law in this area and understand how best to present the evidence to ensure that the full psychological and financial impact of a bereavement is acknowledged and compensated for. I will also assist my clients in finding high-quality support and rehabilitation.
I have developed excellent working relationships with various lead experts in the UK to ensure that the consequences of negligent delay and misdiagnosis are fully investigated as quickly as possible. I appreciate that there may be considerable psychological trauma as a result of a delay in cancer treatment and my approach is to provide support and aim to use as many strategies as possible to resolve the claim as soon as possible.
I specialise in both upper and lower limb surgery. Often, a simple injury has developed into a very difficult problem due to substandard orthopaedic management. I work closely with the expert to understand the nature of the original injury and then to identify how the substandard care has affected the client, so that care needs, aids and equipment, adaptations to accommodation and losses of earnings can be identified and addressed as soon as possible. You can read about one of my cases where Tees secured a £750,000 settlement for negligent knee replacement surgery.
Delivering what you really need
I appreciate that injuries caused by poor medical treatment cause enormous physical, emotional and financial strain. Therefore, I will take the time to understand what has gone wrong so the advice I give is accurate and reflects your goals.
Furthermore, pursuing legal action against the NHS or other health organisations can be daunting. As a result, I will provide a full explanation and realistic assessment of what you may achieve at the outset of your claim and as it progresses. As well as, advise on the various ways your case may be funded and which option will best suit your particular circumstances removing any worries you may have about legal costs.
A significant percentage of my cases settle without the need for drawn-out litigation. I try to use imaginative ways to resolve the issues cost effectively without compromising quality.
Lastly, I am very happy to meet you at any of our offices or at your home, hospital or care home and I can offer out-of-hours appointments where appropriate.
