How can I help you?

I am a Senior Associate within the Family department at Tees.

My work as a Solicitor involves advising and representing clients on a range of different family matters including divorce, dissolution or nullity proceedings; financial settlements and nuptial agreements; arrangements for children and Children Act applications; and cohabitation disputes.

I am also an all issues, Resolution-trained Mediator, working towards accreditation, which enables me to help those involved in family relationship breakdown or disputes to discuss and negotiate bespoke solutions and options in a cost-efficient and voluntary forum.

As a member of Resolution and the Family Mediation Council, I adhere to Codes of Conduct which mean that, as both a Solicitor and a Mediator, I endeavour to minimise conflict in family disputes.

Delivering what you really need

I am committed to the provision of excellent client care.  This not only means listening carefully to each client’s particular needs but also working diligently to ensure that my clients receive high quality legal advice in a clear and understandable way and are kept regularly updated of progress in their cases.

I work collaboratively with colleagues across Tees’ Legal and Wealth teams to ensure that, working together, our clients benefit from our combined expertise and specialist advice.

Cases involving relationship breakdown often mean advising clients during the most challenging times of their lives, so finding favourable, long term and practical solutions for a better future for my clients is always my focus.

What else should you know?

I graduated in 2011 with a First Class honours degree in History from the University of Sheffield before completing the Graduate Diploma in Law at BBP Waterloo, London and then the Legal Practice Course (Distinction) at the University of Law.

I qualified as a Solicitor in September 2015, having completed my training contract here at Tees, including two seats in the Family team being trained by David Redfern and Sally Powell.  I was promoted to Associate in 2019 and have worked in the Bishop’s Stortford Family team since qualification.

I am involved in the firm’s trainee recruitment process and manage our annual Vacation Scheme

“…From start to finish Helen Midgley was beyond supportive. I never felt like just ‘another’ client and she had empathy and understanding with regards to myself and my circumstances. Helen is 100% professional and is extremely hard working and really knows the business. I was informed of everything that was going on with my case and not once did I feel that Helen wasn’t doing her BEST for me. Helen is a calm, caring and extremely personable member of Tees…”
