Caitriona Rafferty

Solicitor, Families and Divorce

How can I help you?

I am a solicitor in the family department at Tees, based in the Chelmsford office.

I have a wealth of experience within family law and can advise on a range of different matters, including:

  • Private law children matters involving Child Arrangements Orders, Prohibited Steps Orders and Specific Issue Orders.
  • Internal and external relocation cases.
  • Divorce and financial remedy cases.
  • Injunction proceedings such as Non-Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders.
  • Cohabitation disputes.
  • Pre-nuptial agreements.
  • Cohabitation agreements.

Delivering what you need

I understand that family law matters can be emotional and stressful. It is vital that individuals feel supported and listened to during what are often very difficult periods of their lives. I aim to be an empathetic ear to clients whilst providing quality advice on how to find pragmatic solutions to their problems.

As a member of Resolution, I aim to help clients in reaching agreements without the need for court proceedings. I take a constructive approach to issues, considering what is fair and reasonable for my clients.

My approach to all work is methodical and thorough which ensures I deliver a first-class service to my clients.

What else should you know?

I studied for my undergraduate law degree at the University of Leicester, graduating in 2019 with a First Class Honours. I then spent two years working as a paralegal within private client law before commencing my Legal Practice Course part-time at the University of Law. Alongside completing my Legal Practice Course, I commenced my training contract with a well-regarded firm in the Essex area.

During my training contract, I spent a year and a half working in family law, developing a wide range of experience in the practice area. I also spent 6 months working in company and employment law, which has given me the knowledge and understanding to deal with complex business assets within financial remedy matters.

I completed my Legal Practice Course in 2023, achieving a high distinction and qualified as a solicitor within family law in October 2023. I joined Tees in January 2024 and look forward to continuing to develop my knowledge and experience in the practice area.
