Independent financial advice

As Chartered financial advisers we provide independent advice to help you achieve your goals. Investments and financial products change, as do the laws that affect them, and of course your own priorities will also change; having a trusted adviser to turn to is essential.

Planning for your family’s financial future

We all lead busy lives and this means there may be some things that you’ve not had time to sort out.  It’s important to do so because these things can have a significant impact on you and your family’s future wellbeing. Decide to do it today!  Call us and we can help.

Pension advice – planning well in advance for your retirement

We can advise you on how best to provide for your retirement.  We cover the full range of pension issues including: taking your pension early, tax-free lump sums, personal pensions, stakeholder pensions, SIPP (self-invested personal pensions) and workplace pensions, annuities, additional voluntary contributions (AVCs) and pension transfer advice. Tees have been awarded the Pension Transfer Gold Standard.

Investment advice

We help you start, build and manage your investment portfolio which may include ISAs, Unit Trusts, OEICs (open ended investment company), bonds and stocks. Our advisers cover ‘whole of market’; we advise on the type of investment that fits you best. We base this on: your current situation, your ambitions, how much you want to invest and how much financial risk you feel comfortable taking. We guide you through all this.

Later life planning

We have legal and financial advisers working together so they can link the different aspects that you need sorting out – for a seamless solution. This covers:

  • Inheritance tax planning – will writing, succession planning
  • Family law – protection reviews (such as life cover), pension sharing, savings for children, school fees
  • Trust law – investments, advising trustees, long-term care - all part of our estate planning service
  • equity release – a type of mortgage, mainly for people over 55, which releases a lump sum from your property. It’s important to consult a specialist to avoid the pitfalls and choose a product that is right for you.
  • pre-paid funeral plans – pay the costs at today’s prices and know that everything is in order
  • care fees planning – there are different types of care you may need such as: local authority care, private residential care home or nursing care. A financial plan can help to reduce the impact of these costs.  Our specialists are accredited to provide advice on financing long-term care.

Financial planning for a business

Tees also advise on business-related financial plans, covering, for example: succession planning, business protection, employee benefits, auto enrolment, group pension schemes and directors’ pension schemes.

What our clients say

Mrs Mary Pope

Gilston, Herts

Toni Chalmers-Smith and her colleagues define "where there's a will there's a way". Toni dealt with two separate financial problems and demonstrated tenacity, drive and an ability to think round problems and find solutions to deliver a result. Toni was able to resolve and deliver excellent financial solutions above and beyond the expectations of myself and my son. Toni and the team at Tees are a must for anyone considering financial advice.

Mr Lawrance Lucas

Hunsdon, Herts

I am very grateful for the professional service that everyone at Tees has shown me over the past few years. In particular my appreciation goes to Cathy Izzard who drew up my late mother’s Will, arranged Power of Attorney and administered probate; to Toni Chalmers-Smith for care fees planning and related financial advice and to Allan Wright for the smooth conveyance of my mother’s house sale. They are knowledgeable, approachable and show empathy to what is sometimes a difficult process.

Ian Christmas

High Wycombe

My wife and I have been lucky enough to have Kevin Palmer as our financial adviser for the past twelve years. He is the antithesis of a salesman, he instead made it clear that his sole purpose was to understand and meet our requirements. His patient and empathetic manner helped my wife and I to crystallise our needs and make our financial plans. Kevin has not only helped us to get the best out of our existing investments, he has also got us into some very good funds and we have been extremely pleased with their growth. He always prepares exceptionally well for our meetings and explains everything in an easy-to-understand manner.

Kieron was able to explain things to us in simple terms which we understood and even made pensions sound interesting!   You can tell that he loves what he does and really knows his stuff. He has a friendly approachable manner and we look forward to working with him again in the future.

I have had the pleasure of being a customer of Adrian’s for over 10 years. He is always professional and gives sound impartial advice on financial matters. Adrian listens carefully and then provides advice which has been invaluable in helping me reach my retirement & lifestyle goals successfully. I would therefore have no hesitation in recommending Adrian as his people skills are excellent and advice given is always uncomplicated and succinct.

Entrusting the accumulated wealth of a lifetime's endeavours is one of the most important decisions a person makes. In order to feel comfortable you need to trust the judgement of both the organisation and the individual taking care of your investments. Our experience with Tees allows us to feel confident that our money is in safe hands.

We have been very impressed by some of the foresight that Gavin has shown with regards to our finances. This was particularly the case with planning for pensions, in light of the new rules introduced by the government. He knew about the impact before we did and that is very impressive. We’ve been made to think about our approach to finance in a completely new way and Gavin was instrumental in this approach. Gavin and his team do so much of the heavy lifting with regards to the analysis of our finances, that when we see him it, is a simple and constructive meeting.

Susan Smith

Michael was able to reassure me and put my mind at ease by providing me with sound and practical advice on a variety of investments, and has patiently explained everything in detail, in language that is easy to understand. He has offered an excellent professional, honest, trustworthy and friendly service and has made the time, above and beyond, to meet me regularly, to discuss and plan my personal portfolio and future investments. I have always felt that he has my best interests at heart and through his extensive expertise has also given me peace of mind which has been a huge relief. He has never applied any sales pressure or hurried me to make a decision and has also ensured that I understood and had the full depth of knowledge, in order for me to make the appropriate decision for my personal circumstances.

I have been a client of George Rutt, and now Tees Financial for 50 years, and due to the excellent advice I have been given, I am in a very good financial position and look forward to a good retirement. I find Helen Prosser in particular, most helpful and easy to deal with.
