Discrimination

We can represent you if an employee brings a claim against you for discrimination. We also advise businesses on putting policies in place to help ensure you fulfil your legal obligations and protect the business from legal claims.

Employment law advice for businesses

Our employment law team includes specialists in discrimination law.

Employment Tribunal cases

We can help you if a discrimination claim has been made against your business and can represent you at a employment tribunal case if it comes to that. We understand how a discrimination claim can affect your business, so we’ll work with you to quickly manage the situation and advise on the best course of action to take.

Anti-discrimination laws can be difficult to navigate without proper legal support, but our experts are here to guide you. We'll make sure your business complies with the law and fulfils any legal obligations to employees. We can also review your existing policies and suggest amendments, to take account of recent changes in the law and to make them more user-friendly for you and your team.

What is workplace discrimination?

Discrimination in the workplace can take many forms. The Equality Act 2010 identified ‘protected characteristics’ and made it illegal to discriminate against people based on these. The protected characteristics are:

  • age
  • gender
  • race
  • sexual orientation
  • marriage or civil partnership
  • religion or belief
  • disability
  • gender reassignment
  • pregnancy or maternity leave.
